Bardsey Parish Walks

Parish Walks take place once a year in order to explore the Parish Boundaries and ensure the footpaths are well used.

The first Parish Walk of 2018 will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday 16th June, and is being led by Cllr Linda Flockton. It will take approximately 2 hours. Boots or strong shoes are recommended. Children and dogs are welcome, however the walks are not suitable for pushchairs.

Do come along and join us to meet some of your Parish Councillors and make new friends on a pleasant walk.

Meet at the bottom of Mill Lane at 2pm on Saturday 16th June

BINGLEY GINNEL

Please note that the ginnel which runs from the Bingley Arms to the village pond will be closed shortly for essential maintenance, restoration and improvements. These works will be supervised by Leeds City Council’s Public Rights of Way Department (PROW).

The closure is expected to commence on 10th May 2018 and last for up to three weeks, although the contractors will endeavour to shorten this period if at all possible. This will be dependent on a number of factors, not least weather conditions during the project.

Collingham Beck Flood Alleviation Research Project

The Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust (YDRT) is a charity organisation that works to protect and enhance the rivers Swale, Ure, Nidd, Wharfe and Ouse and their catchments. In 2017 East Keswick Wildlife Trust, Mott MacDonald and the YDRT worked together to bid for funding for our local area. They were successful, and YDRT was awarded £50,000 to lead on the Collingham Becks project. The funding will enable the local areas surrounding Collingham Beck to be part of a national pilot study, which will develop understanding around the methods and benefits of working with nature to try and reduce the risk of flooding. The project already draws on the support of many groups within the area and it is hoped to attract additional funding and volunteer support to allow even more to be achieved.

AGM and talk

Are you concerned about the use of peat in compost and it’s impact on the environment. Is peat free compost just as good?

The short AGM will be followed by a talk by Julian Davies entitled Is there life after peat?  answering some of the key questions we all have about peat free compost.

All are welcome.
